My name is Tim White, and I bring over 25 years of experience in horticulture to my role as Owner and Manager of Hard Yakka. Originally from South Australia, I hold an Advanced Certificate in Horticulture. While this qualification has provided a strong foundation, my greatest learning has come from hands-on experience and mentorship from some other amazing gardeners.

I began my horticultural journey at the age of 19, working in parks and gardens maintenance for a city. This early experience opened doors to diverse roles, including operating heavy machinery such as Cat loaders and large trucks, working on tree gangs working chippers and bucket trucks, leading revegetation projects, and taking on team leader responsibilities.

My career has also expanded into specialized sectors, including three years of being a golf course greenskeeper and three years as a team leader for a major strata maintenance company in the Parksville and Qualicum areas. In these roles, I led teams delivering premium landscaping and maintenance services to resorts, RV parks, and large strata complexes.

Gardening has been a lifelong passion, sparked in childhood through working alongside my father, who created numerous beautiful gardens. Inspired by his legacy, I aspire to build my own stunning garden that will endure for future generations.

Beyond my professional life, I am a devoted husband and father to three wonderful children. My mission is to assist people of all ages in enjoying the beauty of well-crafted natural spaces, fostering a lasting connection with their gardens and the outdoors.
